SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The KCEA Scholarship Fund is a grant program that assists low- and modest-income families with tuition costs at the KCEA-affiliated school of their choice. KCEA receives donations under Pennsylvania’s innovative (1) Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC), (2) Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC), and (3) PK-EITC programs and distributes those funds proportionally based upon the results of a professional need analysis.
$3,853,467 was awarded to 5,659 students throughout the state between January 2002 and August 2024. KCEA has minimized overhead costs to maximize the scholarship moneys going to needy families and kids to help them enroll in the KCEA school of their choice. Students receiving financial assistance have been residents of 49 counties throughout the state. A flyer provides insights.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has also approved KCEA's applications to create Special Purpose Entities (SPE's), named KCEA Scholarship LLC. These entities enable individuals and businesses to become members in order to redirect state tax payments due in 2025 to fund student scholarships for K-12 kids to attend a KCEA-affiliated school. KCEA has a first-come, first-served window of opportunity to participate in the next round of tax credit applications, which are due before June 2025. (The state determines the specific participation dates.)
