Dr. Ted & Mrs. Shirley Clater
Ted is an ordained minister of the Gospel and has ministered on a full-time basis with KCEA since 1979. He holds a Master’s degree in Christian Education and has 50 years of experience in pastoral and Christian education ministries. Clearwater Christian College conferred upon Ted the Doctor of Pedagogy, Honoris Causa, in 2001. With KCEA, Ted’s role is to give administrative oversight to the whole ministry and its staff, to be constantly researching and writing, and to act as liaison with the government regarding issues like education, childcare issues, and religious liberty. He is consistently involved in aiding ministry leaders in problem solving and consultations.
Shirley’s Master’s degree is in Christian Education, and her 50 years of experience as church/school worker (plus wife and mother) have come in handy. She began with KCEA on a part-time basis, and this grew to a full-time commitment by the late 1980s. With KCEA, she serves as the office manager and specializes in administering the student and staff-oriented programs of the Association.
Mr. Michael Clater
Michael joined full-time staff as an Executive Assistant in February 2024 after having served KCEA for a number of years in a part-time capacity by doing periodic research and writing projects, as well as assisting with administration of some student events and organization of the annual Christian Education Conference. He holds Master's degrees in Library & Information Science and in History, with concentrations in Medieval and Ancient (Roman) history. Since completing his education, he has served as an academic librarian for 10 years and worked as a public library manager. Having participated in KCEA activities during and after high school, he has a historic point of reference for KCEA's student events and activities.
With KCEA, Michael's role is to assist with administrative duties with the many student and staff programs, to conduct research and writing projects, to edit the monthly Sentinel e-newsletter, and to communicate with staff in affiliating ministries.
